If you've done much reading about food or cheese you've probably come across this quote: "Cheese is milk's great leap toward immortality." In a variation on that same theme, I think it's fair to say that cheese is the ticket to paradise for these Syrah grape leaves. The very leaves pictured above, from Carpenter Hill Vineyard in Medford, Oregon are destined for greatness - they're the leaves which will wrap the 2009 release of Rogue Creamery's Rogue River Blue. Once the leaves are picked, they'll be macerated in Clear Creak Pear Brandy until they're ready to wrap Rogue Creamery's signature cheese, one of the Northwest's - and the nation's - best blue cheeses.

I'm wishing I was one of the leaves to be wrapped around the blue.
