The Seattle Cheese Festival returns this weekend for a full slate of cheese themed events and experiences. If you haven't ever been this is a great opportunity to taste, learn and have a lot of fun in the process.
Seriously, what's not to like about: cheese celebrities like Daphne Zepos, Jeff Roberts and Peggy Smith; cheese events like childrens' parades and truckle relays; cheese cooking demonstrations and the opportunity to sample literally hundreds of types of cheeses, both foreign and domestic, from all over the world? It's crowded, it's entertaining, it's a big deal...best of all, the weather promises to be fantastic! There are a number of quintessential Pacific Northwest experiences to have, and one of them is hanging around Pike Place Market in Seattle in spectacular sunny weather, so here's a great chance to do that and have great cheese as well.
Did I mention the Wine Garden? For a nominal fee, you can saunter over to the wine tent and sample wines from dozens of producers, ask questions about wines and experiment on your own with pairing wine and cheese. And don't forget, this is also an opportunity to meet the producers and sample or purchase cheeses from locals like Estrella Family Creamery, Gothberg Farms, Willamette Valley Cheese Co., Mt. Townsend Creamery and more. While you're there, stop by the Oregon Cheese Guild booth and see what's going on in Oregon artisan cheesemaking as well.
Also check out the list of participating restaurants in the Seattle area that are sponsoring events throughout the weeks surrounding the Festival and/or highlighting cheeses or featuring cheese plates on their menus. One way or another, get involved with cheese!

It's absolutely killing me that I am going to miss this event! My husband and I are moving to Seattle the week after. . .poor planning on our part. I am so excited to use your site as a resource to discover all the PNW has to offer in cheese. Thanks!
